I am here to speak for the motion that democracy is the best form of government.

 

Democracy, simply put, means “the government of the people, by the people, and for the people.” It is a system where the citizens hold the power to choose their leaders through elections — not by force, not by inheritance, but by choice.

 

In a democracy, everyone’s voice matters — rich or poor, male or female, educated or uneducated. This is what makes it truly the people’s government.

I stand here to oppose the motion that democracy is the best form of government.

 

While democracy sounds beautiful in theory, in practice it often fails.

 

1️⃣ Democracy is slow and inefficient.

It takes too long to make decisions. Leaders debate endlessly while citizens suffer. During emergencies, a country needs action, not arguments!

 

2️⃣ Corruption and bribery destroy democracy.

Many politicians buy votes, rig elections, and make false promises. The people’s choice is often influenced by money and lies.

 

3️⃣ The majority is not always right.

Sometimes, the majority makes poor decisions based on emotions or ignorance, not wisdom. So democracy can easily become “the rule of the loudest,” not the rule of the best.

 

4️⃣ Uninformed voters weaken the system.

When people vote without proper knowledge, democracy loses its value. It becomes a game of numbers, not intelligence.
